Questions and answers
What is an in-home sales system?
An in-home sales system is software that runs a face-to-face sales appointment in the customer’s home, from pricing and presenting to quoting and signing the contract. It replaces paper price books, spreadsheets, and separate quote and contract tools with one system the whole sales team shares.
Who is Sylk System for?
Sylk System is for home improvement companies whose sales reps sell in the homeowner’s home. It is built for the owners who set pricing, the sales managers who run the team, and the reps who sit at the kitchen table.
Which trades does Sylk System support?
Sylk System supports any home improvement trade sold through in-home appointments, including windows, doors, siding, roofing, gutters, bath, and HVAC replacement. The price guide is fully configurable, so you set up the products and measurements your trade uses.
How does the price guide work?
The price guide organizes your products into categories and subcategories, and each item is priced by square foot, linear foot, each, or quantity. Items can have brand options with their own unit prices, plus upcharges that are per unit, flat, or a percentage of the item. Quantities can be calculated from formulas that reference other items, so related products price themselves.
Who can edit the price guide?
Only owners can edit the price guide. Managers get a read-only view without cost data, and reps see prices while building an estimate. Every price change is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface.
How do reps present to homeowners?
Reps switch to Client View, which turns their screen into a clean, homeowner-facing presentation. It hides costs, internal roles, and app navigation, and shows a “Your Consultant” section with the rep’s name, phone, and email.
How do quotes work?
A rep builds the quote from the price guide during the appointment and shares it with the homeowner as a secure link or PDF. Each quote has an expiration date and shows whether it is a draft, shared, sent, viewed, or converted. The rep can see when the homeowner last opened it and follow up while the decision is still fresh.
How are contracts signed?
An accepted quote becomes a contract, and the homeowner signs and initials it on the rep’s device before the rep leaves. Signatures can be drawn or typed, and the signed contract is saved as a PDF on the job.
How do team roles work?
Sylk System has three company roles: owner, manager, and rep. Owners control pricing, offices, and users. Managers run their team’s leads and see every rep’s pipeline, and reps see their own appointments, quotes, and contracts.
Can we run multiple offices?
Yes. You can set up multiple offices, assign reps to them, and filter dashboards by office. Price guide items can also be limited to the offices that sell them.
How are leads assigned to reps?
Managers dispatch appointments to reps, and reps accept or decline them from their phone. Every handoff is recorded, and reps can set their availability and time off so managers know who is free.
Where do brochures and signed paperwork live?
They live in Sylk System’s document storage. Owners upload brochures, warranties, and other files once, and reps open them during the appointment. Signed contracts are stored with the job they belong to.
How much does Sylk System cost?
Pricing is shared during a demo rather than published on the site. Book a demo and we will walk through pricing for your team.
How does setup work?
The Sylk System team creates your company account, and your owner then invites managers and reps by email. You import your price book from Excel, add your offices and documents, and your reps can start presenting from their browser.
